Olivia Cranney

BSc MSc

Environmental Scientist

Olivia is an Environmental Scientist specialising in hydrological data interpretation and analyses. She is focused on providing solutions to assist in the sustainable management and use of surface water and groundwater.
Olivia has worked extensively with shallow groundwater data to assess the risk to urban environments. She produced maps combining spatial drainage data and modelled groundwater levels to inform the feasibility of soakage infrastructure. She has also developed a water balance model to assess surface–groundwater interactions to inform the management of shallow groundwater during land development.

Recently, Olivia has delineated source protection zones around public drinking water supplies by using tools such as GIS, groundwater modelling, and microbial travel-time analysis, to assist in the management of contamination risk and support regulatory compliance. These outputs have been used by councils and water suppliers to inform land use planning, risk assessments, and source protection policy development.
