Water shapes life in New Zealand.
We exist to understand those connections and help people work with them.
New Zealanders have a special connection with land and water, always have done. We’re right behind that, helping our primary industries and government entities develop robust, lasting water and land management solutions, that keep those connections strong and sustainable into the future.
We combine leading science and data with a clear-eyed, practical approach. We go broad and deep to build a complete picture, getting to the highly-tuned solutions that work on the ground – and keep on working.
It’s all about connections at the end of the day – working closely with our clients, pooling the combined expertise of our scientists, engineers and managers to find truly innovative breakthroughs. It’s about exploring the links that lead us to unbiased, trusted and practical answers. It’s a healthy relationship with how we manage water in a way that allows progress, ensures sustainability, instils respect and protects the future. It’s important, it’s changing and we’re proud to lead the way.
Seeing the whole system.
New Zealanders have always had a strong relationship with land and water. Supporting that relationship starts with seeing the full picture.
We combine leading science and data with a clear, grounded approach. We look wide and deep to understand how water moves through landscapes, industries and communities. Then we turn that understanding into solutions that are robust, sustainable and built to last.
It is about connecting the dots between water, land, people and policy and finding answers that support progress while protecting what matters.
Working side by side.
Connection is also how we work with people.
We work closely with our clients, bringing together the expertise of our scientists, engineers and advisors to look at challenges from every angle. By linking knowledge, data and experience, we uncover insights that lead to clear, trusted decisions.
The result is practical solutions that stand up in the field, not just on paper.
Our foundations.
Aqualinc was founded by John Bright and Ian McIndoe, who recognised early the need for a more practical, science-led approach to water management in New Zealand.
From the outset, the focus was on combining deep technical expertise with real-world application. Not just understanding water systems, but helping people make decisions that stand up in practice.
That thinking still underpins how we work today. We continue to build on that foundation, bringing together science, data and on-the-ground experience to deliver solutions that are clear, trusted and built to last.
Built for what comes next.
Water management in New Zealand is changing. Environmental pressure, regulation and land use are all evolving.
We are proud to work alongside organisations across the country to navigate that change. Together, we are helping shape a future where water is managed wisely, supporting economic progress, environmental sustainability and respect for the land.
The values that guide our work.
Our values shape how we work, how we make decisions and how we show up for our clients and communities.
